Our houses are all well located for town, campus, post office, takeaways and the new supermarket on Hull Road. This should save you money on travel either by bus or car and you can save the cab fare for nights in town.
We allow you to change your gas and electricity suppliers to make sure you are with the best deal. If we become aware of a good deal we will aim to circulate it amongst our houses.
We charge no deposit, so you don't need to borrow extra funds and pay interest on money that is sitting in the landlord's account. There is no money payable on signing the contract, or on "booking the house".
Because we don't hold any of your money we can't make up dubious reasons to keep it, as landlords have done to us in the past.
All our houses are double glazed. This keeps them warmer and saves on heating bills as less heat escapes.
By having at least five people in the house you spread the bills further. Any standing charges, line rental etc is split more ways and the cost of heating a house for 6 is not 50% more than the cost of heating one for 4. Broadly the bigger the house the smaller each person's bills.
Retail gas prices have rocketed over recent years. We have removed all gas appliances except the boilers, so the only gas you are paying for is to heat the house and the hot water.
Our houses all have modern combination boilers, fitted in the last few years. These boilers only heat hot water as it is used so you oay for what you use and are not paying to store hot water like an old fashioned central heating system.
The vast majority of our houses have thermostatic radiator valves. This enables you to set individual room thermostats and save money by not over heating rooms that are not in use.
Our houses have cavity walls which reduce the heat loss when compared to older victorian houses without.
We provide our tenants with several discounts on products that we think may be of use to you and are always seeking more.
We provide an introduction to our own financial advisers who can assist with loans, insurance etc (and once you leave us mortgages, pensions and all the other stuff you'll find you need advice on!)
We are flexible with your rent (within reason!). If you have problems one month we have the resources and the inclination to discuss paying late etc in order to save you bank charges or unauthorised overdraft interest etc
Less directly we like to sponsor societies and events. In the past we have sponsored Langwith College sports shirts, campus wide RAG events, and college and society events. If you think of anything suitable let us know and we'll see what we can do.
