At Yorkstudenthouses you are dealing with people who have been students at York University and who have your best interests at heart.
Den was nominated by various tenants for a Good Landlord Award and we were delighted to be selected by the panel from Higher York (A partnerhsip between the Universities, Student Unions and the City Council) as theYork Residential Landlord Association Landlord of The Year in the large houses category.
We have 21 years experience as landlords in York and the expertise to ensure your year(s) with us go well.
We know the issues that come up and have (almost always!) been there before. We invite all new tenants to a meeting on campus before you move in so we can ensure everyone has the info they need and all questions are answered.
We genuinely want you to have a fun and easy year and we are always available to help and advise with any issues even if they are beyond our responsibilities as landlords. Many of our tenants stay for two years and we want to have a good relationship.
That is why as student landlords we control our own level of service, rather than using an agent who is looking after hundreds of other houses and we are very pleased to have been recognised by an industry award nominated by our tenants.
We have 10 houses not 100 - so you are always near rthe top of our list!
Our reputation and inclination to be nice to tenants matter more to us than mere money so you can expect us to be extremely accommodating. (pun intended...)
Dennis Allport - Landlord and manager
Den is the first person you will talk to at Yorkstudenthouses and will be the main contact for everything during your tenancy.
He has been letting houses in York to students since 1998 and received one of four Landlord of The Year Awards in October 2015 from Higher York. He was a maths student at York Uni, where he lived on Thief lane, and more recently a postgrad at Southampton Uni. He scored 100% on the RLA Principle of Lettings course.
He has been a school governor and a Chartered Accountant with a big 4 firm in London, a maths tutor and a Director of various companies.
He has acted as an adviser to landlords in Southampton who wanted to manage student houses nicely, without using an agent. He is also a director of a company that builds new homes in York so has access to considerable resources when you need it.
He is married to Vicki who was a York Uni biology student and they have five children.
